Russia - Egypt" International ISTA and KFSU Students' Contest CONTEST REGULATIONS The 1-st International Internet-based ISTA and KFSU Students' Contest " www. fashion . Russia - Egypt" is to be launched in 2010. The aim of the contest: - nurturing the new generation of designers for the career in transnational fashion industry environment; - strengthening links between Russian and Egyptian creative intelligentsia; - presenting oneself at the international arena, developing multilateral relationships between the two universities. Topic of the contest. Fashion has no boundaries. Its language, beautiful and clear to everybody, unifies nations, makes related their century-old cultures, ties together the future and the past in a single international environment. Unlimited possibilities of Internet resources contribute to interpenetration of fashion, reducing time and shortening distance. Categories. The contest is designed to include two categories. 1. Reality costume (industrial design). The principal criteria for the costume - commercial attractiveness, novelty of idea, reflection of the world fashion trends, rational designing and technological solution, orientation to the end-user, possibility to reproduce in quantity in the industrial scale. 2. New image costume (creative design). The principal criteria - non-standard approach and innovative

image-bearing solutions and shapes, implementation of new and original fabrics, decorations and methods of making the costume. Participation in the contest. 1. ISTA and KFSU students are eligible for the contest. 2. Participation in the contest is free. 3. Every participant has the right to participate in any category (and in both categories simultaneously). 4. Collections of 5 models can be designed both for the young women's and men's wear group. 5. The contest includes 2 phases: The first phase - from 15.11.2010 to 31.12.2010 The second phase - from 1.01.2011 to 1.03.2011. 6. The works for the contest will be displayed on the web-sites of both educational institutions on the pages created specifically for this purpose. ISTA students will send their drawings to KFSU (address: [email protected]); KFSU students will send their drawings to ISTA (address: kshi(@)igta.ru). Each contestant will dispatch his (her) design works by e-mail as a single package: an accompanying letter and design works attached to this letter as individual files. Jury panel The assessment of the students' contest works will be made by a specially organized board of ISTA and KFSU faculty. 1. Jury members representing the ISTA Garment Designing Department - Victor Kuzmichev - Full D.Sc., professor, Head of the Garment Designing Department; - Natalia Mizonova – professor, head of the Textile Design Department: - Albina Malinskaya - PhD, professor at the Garment Designing Department; - Natalia Snegireva - senior lecturer at the Garment Designing Department. 2. Jury members representing KFSU: - Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Mohamed Aman, VICE-PRESIDENT, for Post Graduate Studies& Research, KaferElshekh University, Egypt. -Prof. Dr. Hussin T. Elbadrawy, Faculty Dean of Specific Education, KaferElshekh University, Egypt. -Prof. Dr. ElSayed Ahmed ElNashar, Associate Professor of textiles & Apparel, Home Economic Department, Faculty of Specific Education, KaferElshekh University, Egypt. And coordinator, For Memorandum Agreement with Ivanovo State Textile Academy Russia. -Prof. Dr. Abdelaziz Gouda, Head of ready-made garment Department, Faculty of Applied arts, Helwan University, Egypt. -Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdalla Elgamal, Professor of textiles and Apparel, ready-made garment Department, Faculty of Applied arts, Helwan University, Egypt. 3. Chairman of the jury: Vladimir G.I.Chistoborodov - rector of ISTA. The Russian jury assesses the works created by Egyptian students, the Egyptian jury judges the Russian students’ works.

4. When estimating the results of each stage the votes will be taken into consideration given for the contestants by the users of the web-site guest books in ISTA (http://www.igta.ru/guestbook) and KFSU. Prize Fund 1. All participants of the contest are awarded certificates. 2. In both categories the winners are selected and awarded as follows: the 1-st prize - 1 person, the 2-nd prize - 2 persons, 3-rd prize - 4 persons. 3. The contest participants can be marked by special prizes instituted by jury members, sponsors and patrons. 4. ISTA will award a prize to one absolute winner selected from among the Egyptian participants of the contest - Grand-Prix diploma and admission to the regional semi-final of the International Contest of Young Designers "Russian Silhouette" held in Ivanovo (expenses connected with his (her) stay in Russia are to be covered by ISTA) and to the finals of this contest held in Moscow. 5. KFSU will award a prize to one absolute winner selected from among the Russian participants of the contest - Grand-Prix diploma and admission to the finals of the contest held in Egypt (expenses connected with his (her) stay in Egypt are to be covered by KFSU). Phases of the contest and work submission dates 1. Design drawing phase Presentation of the graphic composition including design drawings of a collection of 5 models. For participation in the contest it is necessary before 31.12.2010 to send to the Organizing Committee (ISTA students are sending to the address: [email protected], KFSU students to the address: [email protected]) the following materials: - Resume containing information about the author and the collection (in English) (Attachment 1). - Design drawings of the collection (design drawings requirements see in the Attachment 2); - Pattern design drawings (pattern design drawings requirements) (Attachment 3). At this phase of the contest the jury will assess the expressiveness of the art and graphic composition, its correspondence to the announced nomination, collection idea and topic of the contest. 2. Prototype phase Presentation of the photographic images of one collection model, realized in material. The participants of the contest who win the 1-st phase of the contest will make one prototype model at their choice and before 1.03.2011 will send to the Organizing committee the following materials: - 3 photographs of the prototype being demonstrated by a model or being put on the dummy - front, side and back views (requirements on the photographs Attachments 4); - design idea (the text should be rendered in English) (Text

At this phase the jury judge to what extent the presented prototype corresponds to the design drawing, assess the quality of the designing (constructional) and technological solution. Attachment 1 RESUME Surname, given name Sex Year of birth Current education status Achievements in the field of fashion design Design idea (name of the collection) Address Attachment 2 CONTEST DESIGN DRAWINGS REQUIREMENTS Design drawings of the collection are to be made on a sheet of paper of size A3 (420 x 297 mm) using all accessible to the contestant art and graphic methods of realizing the design idea. Application of computer graphic editor programs (Adobe Photoshop, CorelDraw and others) is admissible. All the drawings should be numbered from 1 to 5. Design drawings are to be scanned with the resolution not less than 200 dpi (jpg format is possible). The file size should not exceed 3,5 MB! Otherwise the work will not be reviewed. The name of the file with design drawings should contain: - category number (1 or 2); - author's surname rendered in English (in case of teamwork the name of the first author should be specified); - Latin letter A. For instance: livanovA.jpg 2hamedA.jpg Attachment 3 PATTERN DRAWINGS REQUIREMENTS Pattern drawings of all the costumes are made on one sheet of paper of size A4 (210 x 297 mm). For each fashion drawing corresponding pattern drawings are presented according to their numeration (from 1 to 5) representing all construction lines (front and back views). Pattern drawings are to be scanned with the resolution not less than 200 dpi (jpg format is possible). The file size should not exceed 3 MB! The name of the file with pattern drawings should contain: - category number (1 or 2); - author's surname rendered in English (in case of teamwork the name of the first one should be specified); - Latin letter B.

Attachment 4 PHOTOGRAPHY REQUIREMENTS Practicality works (prototypes) are photographed from 3 sides - front view, side view and back view. The photos should be taken strictly in full height admitting no distortion of proportions. It is possible to submit photos taken by digital camera or having been scanned with the resolution not less than 200 dpi (jpg format is possible). The file size should not exceed 3 MB! The name of the file with photographs should contain: - category number; - author's surname rendered in English (in case of teamwork the name of the first one should be specified); - Latin letter С - Digit 1 - front view file, digit 2 - side view file, digit 3 - back view file For instance: 1 ivanovC3.jpg 2hame3dC 1 .jpg Attachment 5 ANNOTATION REQUIREMENTS The annotation includes author's surname and given name, title of the collection, brief description of the practicality work and materials. The annotation is written in English. The text is typed in MS Word, Times New Roman, the size of type 12, interline interval - single. The text of annotation should not exceed 1 page of A4 format. The name of the file with the annotation should contain: - category number; - author's surname rendered in English (in case of teamwork the name of the first one should be specified); - Latin letter D.
