BRIEF BIODATA OF Dr SATISH BHARDWAJ
Professor Satish Bhardwaj, is presently heading the Department of Environmental Science, Dr. Y S Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry Nauni Solan HP India. He is engaged in the management of natural resources like soil and water under changing environmental situations in the North‐Western Himalayan region. For the last five years he is actively involved in teaching environmental science courses to post graduate students and in soil and water pollution monitoring studies, assessment of climate change impacts on ecosystem services, vulnerability assessment of hill horticulture and mountain people to climate change as well as carbon sequestration studies. In the department of Environmental science he has guided seven M.Sc. students and presently guiding four M.Sc. and Ph.D. students each. He has made scientific contributions in the field of environmental science as well in soil science & water management and also involved in disseminating the generated technologies to the ultimate users. Presently he is handling project on “Forecasting agricultural output using space, agro‐ meteorology and land use observations” (FASAL) and involved in creating state and art facilities in the department under FIST project of DST, GOI. He is also involved in IMD project on Gramin Krishi Mausam Seva project of IMD. He has handled ICAR sponsored National Agriculture Technology project (NATP) and Network project on impact, adaptation and vulnerability of Indian agriculture to climate change. He has evaluated various watershed projects of the state and catchment area treatment plan of State Department of Forest. He remained member of executive committee of Institute of Integrated Himalayan Studies of Himachal Pradesh University Shimla for one year. Presently he is also acting as a member of State Expert Appraisal Committee for Himachal Pradesh constituted by Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change GOI, New Delhi. He has also undertaken an International training on “R & D in irrigation and fertigation in controlled environment” organized by Volcani Centre & CINDACO, Israel at Bet Dagan. He has rich experience of 20 years in teaching, research and extension activities in the fields of Soil Science and Water Management and Environmental Science. He has
authored/co‐authored 40 research papers in national and international journals of repute. He has published 15 conceptual articles in the national level newspapers and magazines. He has edited eight books as one of the author. He has contributed ten book chapters and presented 15 research papers in the national and international conferences. Dr. Satish Bhardwaj is also serving as reviewer of many international journals.
