ith the holiday season upon us, many people are making travel arrangements to visit family and friends, or just to get away. Travelers are faced with increased airline fees and costly airport parking costs, but Tri-Rail is the way to go to save money with a stress-free commute to the airport this holiday season. South Florida residents and visitors can ride Tri-Rail to travel to and from the region’s major airports. EASY CARD TIP OF THE MONTH ransferring from Tri-Rail to Miami-Dade Transit (MDT)? Then you must have an EASY Card loaded with cash value to get your transfer discount, unless you already have a Regional Monthly Pass. Passengers transferring from Tri-Rail to MDT and vice versa, can do so seamlessly at no extra charge, with an SFRTA/Tri-Rail or MDT EASY Card loaded with a Regional Monthly Pass. Tri-Rail passengers using a Tri-Rail paper ticket are required to pay full fare when transferring from Tri-Rail to Metrorail or Metrobus, and the same goes for passengers with an EASY Card that has no cash value and is loaded with a product other than a Regional Monthly Pass. Passengers with an EASY Card loaded with cash value (minimum of $2) will pay a transfer discount. Just remember to always tap-on and tap-off to activate your pass.

ATTENTION EDP MEMBERS mployer Discount Program (EDP) Members no longer receive an EDP ID Card to qualify for their discounts. Instead, an EDP-encoded EASY Card is issued with the member’s photo affixed to it. Though the card doesn’t expire every year, members must still renew their membership annually to remain active in the program. The expiration month is printed on the card as a reminder for when to renew membership.

“RAIL FUN DAY” A SUCCESS he rain didn’t stop nearly 1,500 people from enjoying Tri-Rail’s “Rail Fun Day” on October 29th. Families took part in the most successful event yet, with fun for kids of all ages, including cookie decorating, arts and crafts, magic shows, games, giveaways and more. Tri-Rail’s Conductor George Green was also on hand to greet kids as they paraded around in their Halloween costumes. Event-goers also got a first look at the Miami Marlins new ball park, enjoyed great treats from Pollo Tropical and the Miami Food Trucks, and even witnessed a performance by American Idol Season 10 Top 24 Finalist Brett Loewenstern. As part of this fun event, kids took the stage to compete in “South Florida’s Kids Got Talent,” Tri-Rail’s first-ever song and dance competition for kids 15 and under. However, due to inclement weather, the show had to be postponed and will now take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 10 at The Galleria at Fort Lauderdale. Come out and cheer for your favorite contestant as the 12 finalists compete for a $500 prize and family four-pack to see Cirque Dreams “Holidaze,” at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, December 27-January 1.
