Position: assistant or associate professor of violin (full-time position) The Université de Montréal Faculty of Music is seeking to fill a full-time assistant or associate professor position requiring expertise in the field of violin performance. Job summary The professor will teach violin and related subjects at the undergraduate and graduate levels. He or she will be called upon to supervise graduate students, and take part in orchestra activities (sectional). He or she will also contribute to the development of the discipline through research work, and support the institution’s growth and operation, particularly by sitting on judging panels and committees, taking part in teaching management, and recruiting students for the strings area. Requirements • Doctorate in violin performance or have equivalent professional experience ; • Strong university-level teaching experience ; • Ability to teach and supervise students in French. In-depth knowledge of the orchestral repertoire will be considered an asset. The candidate may be called upon by the selection committee to submit recent concert recordings, teach a sample class, and lead a master class or hold a lecture-recital.
