PROFESSIONAL JOB DESCRIPTION Exempt; Full‐time  POSITION TITLE:

Electrical Supervisor

PURPOSE: Construct, maintain, repair and inspects electric power, lighting, and communication systems as appropriate on campus. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Plan new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications and local electrical codes. Plan wiring and installation of equipment and fixtures such as motors, generators, as well as control and distribution apparatus such as switches, relays, and circuit-breaker panels. Prepare sketches showing location of wiring and equipment, or follow diagrams or blueprints, ensuring that concealed wiring is installed before completion of future walls, ceilings, and flooring. Measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble, and install electrical conduit. Pull wiring through conduit. Splice wires by stripping insulation from terminal leads, twisting or soldering wires together, and applying tape or terminal caps. Connect wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment. Connect power cables to equipment, such as electric range or motor. Install grounding leads. Test continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components with testing instruments such as ohmmeter, battery and buzzer, and oscilloscope. Inspect wiring and fixtures for conformance to college specifications or local electrical codes. Observe functioning of installed equipment or system to detect hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement. Repair faulty equipment or systems. Study production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment. Interpret specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers, and assigns duties. Establish or adjust work procedures to meet production schedules. Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product. Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency. Analyze and resolve work problems, or assist workers in solving work problems. Estimate, requisition, and inspect materials. TVCC values professionalism in its employees. QUALIFICATIONS MANDATORY: High school diploma or equivalent and at least 10 years of advanced training, education and work experience with all types and varied electrical systems. Employee may have sole responsibility for meeting deadlines. REQUIRED LICENSES: Electrical Supervisor license for Oregon and Masters license in Idaho. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Standing, walking, and/or other positional physical movements may be occasional to frequent. Manual dexterity and coordination are required over 50% of the work period. Medium physical exertion. Lifting or moving of heavy parcels, machines, or equipment up to 40 pounds. Will do periodic digging or equipment operation requiring full-body exertion. WORKING CONDITIONS Frequent daily exposure to one or more disagreeable conditions, such as outdoor work in weather extremes, undesirable cleaning or repair assignments, moderately hazardous conditions including operating potentially dangerous equipment. On-call 24/7 for emergency repairs. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY May need to provide general supervision to staff and electrical contractors on related duties or projects. SUPERVISION RECEIVED Works under the general supervision of the Director of Physical Plant/Security.
