Class meets: M/W 8:30-9:45am in Namm N700 Office hours: M/W 11am-12pm or by appointment Exams (50% of grade): There will be two in-class exams. NO make-ups for missed exams will be given. Exam dates will be announced at least a week in advance. Final Exam (20% of grade): The final exam will take place during the last class of the semester. You must take the final exam to pass the course. Homework (20% of grade): Homework will be assigned weekly and due the following week. Late homework will be graded with a 10% penalty per class day. You are permitted and strongly encouraged to collaborate on the homework with your fellows students. Homework should be completed as follows: a) The first page should be a cover sheet containing your name/s and a short paragraph summarizing the main ideas of the material covered in the homework. b) Each problem should be completed on a separate page. c) The pages should be stapled together. d) The writing should be neat and legible. Warning: Unstapled/messy/illegible homework will receive an automatic 0 grade! Class Participation (10% of grade): a) presenting homework/in-class problems on the board b) answering questions in class c) asking questions in class d) regular and on-time attendance Attendance: Attendance will be taken at the beginning of each class. If you are excessively absent or late you will receive a WU grade. Withdrawal from course: The last day to withdraw from the course without a grade is November 11. Students who are failing should consider withdrawing officially before this date to avoid getting an F in the class. Grading: A = 93.0 – 100 A= 90.0 – 92.9 B+ = 87.0 – 89.9 B = 83.0 – 86.9 B= 80.0 – 82.9 C+ = 77.0 – 79.9 C = 70.0 – 76.9 D = 60.0 – 69.9 F = 0 – 59.9
