Project Muse Project Muse is a database that contains a comprehensive selection of scholarly journals in the humanities and social sciences, as well as books published by university presses. All available articles and books are full text.

How do I access Project Muse? Current Montgomery College students, faculty, & staff can access databases from on or off-campus. To access Project Muse: Start at the MC Library home page: http://cms.montgomerycollege.edu/libraries/ Go to the Articles & Databases tab and select A to Z List of Databases. Select Project Muse From Off-campus or from a laptop: Enter your MC ID ("M number," including the M) in the box. If you have problems logging in, refer to Off-Campus Access to Library Resources on our home page.

How do I find sources in Project Muse? Browse: Click on the orange “browse” button to see Project Muse content by defined research areas, publication title, publisher, or type of publication (book or journal).

Search: Enter your search terms in the search box at the top of the screen. Use quotations to search for a phrase (“postcolonial literature”) Use AND & OR to combine search terms in different ways (identity and gender) On your results list, you will have the option to modify your search. Click modify search to add search terms, search for a specific title, or search within a Project Muse research area. Use the menu on the left side of the screen to narrow your search results.

Read, Email, and Print Articles or Books

You can sort your search results by relevance or publication date. Each article or book within your list of search results will be marked with one of the icons pictured here. Montgomery College students, faculty, and staff may not have access to materials marked “Restricted Access.”

To read an article or book, click on the title or the image of the book or journal. Articles: Read the article as a web page, or click on Access Article in PDF to download a copy. You may save a copy to your computer to send as an email attachment. Print the article’s HTML file by clicking File > Print in your browser’s menu bar. Print a PDF file by using the print icon in the toolbar. Books: Once you click on the title of the book, you will be able to read and download the contents section-bysection.

Email a link to the book from the Project Muse record page (after you click the title on the results list).
