10 NEW COVERS TO CELEBRATE SALANI’S 150 YEARS GRAPHICS AND ILLUSTRATION CONTEST

The Salani publishing House (Mauri Spagnol publishing Group) has decided to celebrate the 150th anniversary from its founding, and its vocation for graphics, with a contest open to Italian and International illustrators and designers, both professional and amateur. Starting on the ten covers that have contributed most to the success and fame of the new Salani, a committee presided by Italo Lupi and composed of Stefano Salis, Andrea Kerbaker,Luigi Spagnol, Andrea Balconi and Mariagrazia Mazzitelli will choose the 10 best new submissions, one for each book, revised and reinterpreted as to regard to graphics and illustration and without restrictions on the techniques employed. The work submitted with be presented and displayed during the next Fiera del Libro per Ragazzi di Bologna (the Bologna Children’s Book Fair) held on 25-28 March 2013 . The fair will also dedicate further emphasis to this initiative in the area normally reserved for illustration.

This spotlight on editorial graphics will continue at the Salone Internazionale del Libro di Torino (The Turin International Book Fair)held on May 16-20 2013 with the attendance of both Italian and International experts. The event will be promoted via all of Salani’s hardcover and web communications.

The deadline for entries is January 13 2013.

WHO CAN APPLY

The competition is open to both Italian and International amateur and professional illustrators and graphic designers.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

Send-by Jan 31st. 2013- one colour image, executed in whichever technique you have chosen, to copertinesalani@ salani.it specifying name, surname, and address. In the mail you should also indicate the book for which the new cover is proposed. The file you attach can only be accepted if in jpg 300 dpi four-colour format. Cover dimensions should be 13,7 x 20,5 except for the book Chi me l’ha fatto in testa ? which should be horizontal, 30 x 21. Do not send boards or designs direct to the publishing house as they will not be eligible for consideration , nor will they be returned. The jury will select the best illustration for each book. The ten best covers will on display during the Fiera del Libro per Ragazzi di Bologna ( Bologna Children’s Book Fair ) , from 25-28 March 2013.
