Form 1985 to 1989: Senior Engineer, Space and Upper Atmospheric Research Commission (SUPARCO), Karachi - Responsible for design and implementation of various hardware and software modules that interfaced different payloads of low-orbit satellites - Design a remote sensing equipment using a CCD camera to be installed on the satellite - Other tasks assigned by the department head



From 1983 to 1984: Engineer, Philips Electrical Company of Pakistan Limited, Karachi - Responsible for the design of Audio-Visual, Closed-Circuit TV systems and MATV systems according to the requirements of the clients using the products manufactured by Philips.



July 1981 to December 1981: Lecturer, Dawood College of Engineering and Technology, Karachi - Responsible for teaching of courses to Electronic Engineering students of the college

Research Interests: Besides my current area of interest for my PhD, I have explored the following specific areas:  Issues related to distributed operating systems, specially in grid computing environment  Parallel processing as a problem solving paradigm  Architectural trends in microprocessors Major Areas of Interest: Parallel Computer Architecture, Operating Systems and Microprocessor-based systems design and implementation. - Basic Electronics  Most of the courses were offered for the first time at the FAST Institute of Computer Science and later at FAST-NU. I was involved in the entire process from the course development to implementation and text selection.  Supervised a number of senior-level student projects at the National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences (FAST-NU), Karachi Campus.  Supervised a few research projects from the Industry related to the areas of interest. Computer Languages: I have programmed extensively in Pascal and Assembly Language of Intel 80X86 processor. I have working knowledge of programming in C and working knowledge of FORTRAN. Awards and Scholarships:  Quaid-e-Azam Scholar from the N.E.D. University of Engineering and Technology for the year 1981. This merit scholarship is awarded to the First Class First student of the University to pursue higher education leading to PhD  Won the Philips Scholarship for one-year postgraduate studies at the Phillips International Institute of Technological Studies, Eindhoven, Holland. This scholarship was awarded annually on an all-Pakistan basis to one or two students.
