[1991– 2005] Associate Director – Lake Michigan Federation Established, staffed and supervised the Michigan office. Directed implementation of projects and development of communication materials, such as reports, newsletters, testimony, presentations and web content. Obtained and managed grants totaling approximately $1 million dollars. Initiated and/or participated in numerous local, state and Great Lakes issue campaigns, on topics such as water diversions, invasive species, water quality, land use planning, watershed management, contaminated sediments, sand dune protection, and oil and gas drilling. [2005 – Present] Consultant/Owner of Great Lakes Consulting White Lake Community Library: (2011 – present) Planning, grant writing, and implementation of the White Lake Environmental History Project, a project to collect and document the environmental history of White Lake, from its industrial pollution era to its recovery. Freshwater Future: (2010 – 2012) Project support for Asian carp and hydrofracking campaigns, and assisted with grants program management. Muskegon Conservation District: (2009 – present) Project support for the White Lake Public Advisory Council; White Lake Community Native Landscape Initiative; Educating on Regulations, Ecology, and Best Practices for Developing in Critical Dunes; White Lake Shoreline Habitat Restoration Project.

White Lake Area Guided Nature Walks: (2006 – present) Co-coordinator of a summer nature walk program with the White Lake Area Chamber of Commerce. Healing Our Waters – Great Lakes Coalition: (2008) Great Lakes Day Coordinator. Great Lakes United: (2005 – 2010) Facilitator for the Green Energy Task Force; hosted focus groups, developed fact sheets and presented at international conference on Lake Erie lakebed energy infrastructure development; hosted a West Michigan forum on Great Lakes restoration; conducted telephone survey of organizational members in the U.S. and Canada; assisted with coordination of electronic annual business meeting. Clean Water Action: (2008) Coordinated a West Michigan town hall meeting on water withdrawals and state legislation. National Wildlife Federation: (2007) Assisted with coordination of the Great Lakes Story & Photo Contest for the Great Lakes Natural Resource Center. Environment Michigan Research & Policy Center: (2007) Researched/wrote report on risks to public lands from oil and gas drilling. Don’t Waste Michigan: (2006) Wrote comments on a draft Environmental Impact Statement for a license extension application by the Palisades Nuclear Power Plant. Alliance for the Great Lakes: (2005 – 2007) Coordinated a project with MSU and Ford Motor Company to research/analyze/report on inland sand alternatives to coastal dune mining. Michigan Environmental Council: (2005 – 2006) Organized public forums on coastal land use issues in Michigan, wrote report with recommendations for state coastal land use policy reform. International Joint Commission: (2005) Researched/wrote white paper on public involvement in the development/ implementation of Lakewide Area Management Plans for the Great Lakes; prepared “expert” directory for Great Lakes communities; updated inventory of environmental progress for Great Lakes Areas of Concern; researched/summarized the status of post sediment remediation monitoring in U.S. and Canadian Areas of Concern.
