Operation and control Control system The customer may choose among the control systems of SIEMENS, FANUC and HEIDENHAIN. CNC systems enable simple and safe control of the machine during the machining. Quick exchange of the tool, built-in memory and automatic cycle offer the optimum level of user's comfort in machining of work pieces in complicated shapes.

Modes of operation In manual mode, it is possible to control the machine by means of electronically controlled levers and wheels just as in case of universal centre lathe with the possibility of following fully automatic repetition of previous manual operation. This enables flexible and quick control of the machine suitable for production of single parts or in small series production. Another possibility is using the predefined built-in cycles where the specific parameters need to be defined to achieve higher effectiveness of the machining. It is possible to operate the machine in a fully automatic numeric controlled mode of control with continuous performance of several consecutive operational cycles, which accelerates the machining, mainly in case of serial production.

Technical parameters High operating safety It is ensured by lockable covers with large-size safety glass, providing excellent protection of the operating personnel, quality and comfortable monitoring of the cutting process. They are compliant with the EN 12415 standard concerning the resistance to puncture.

Simple operating The machine is controlled by modern control system. The software has been created for cycle-controlled lathes, where the final program is created by interactive combination and selection of parameters in simple cycles (which is typical in this type of CNC machines) with the possibility of repeated correction of these cycles. Control panel moves together with the carriage, what allows the operator to observe the machining process continually.

Purpose

SE 1020 NUMERIC CNC Lathe

SE 1020 NUMERIC is designed for machining of simple rotary parts of larger dimensions flanged but mainly shafting type up to the length 4000 mm. In combination with drilling and milling allows machining of parts with complicated shapes from bars, forgings and split material. The machine can work in manual, cycle and automatic mode. High variability of executions and big number of optional accessories allows creating different machine executions depending on individual customers needs.

High accuracy of positioning It is achieved by the ball screws and the low coefficient of friction during the movement of carriage and cross slide, which has been reached by automatic central lubrication with controlled distribution of lubricating medium and by the surfaces covered by special material. Protection of the sliding surfaces is provided by telescopic guards and effective cast wipers made of oil-resistant material. These cast wipers prevent from breaking chips and impurities into the sliding surfaces of moving carriage and cross slide. The absolute position measuring of the carriage and tool post is on the machine; therefore it is not required the returning into reference positions after the machine starts running.

Technical features Turning is the basic technological operation. Further possibilities include machining by turret live tools of rotating or not rotating work piece, which strongly extend machine’s abilities for complex machining of complicated parts.

Speed and power High output Spindle drive with rotations 1600 r.p.m is done by high power, free maintenance, asynchronous main motor with digital vector controller. The torque 4040 Nm is achieved for the main motor 30 kW.

Spindle rotations Constant speed during the turning operation is achieved by continuous control of spindle rotations and feed. The constant cutting speed of the tool and high quality of machining of the piece’s surface is ensured by optimal cutting tools utilization. This prevents the wearing of the cutting tools and operating costs are decreased. Two stages of rotations with automatic gears shifting in the range 1-415 and 1-1600 min-1 enable simply rotation change by buttons placed on control panel or by performing of the programmed cycles.

Precision Gearbox Drive The resulting high precision of turning and quality of the machined surface is achieved by vibration elimination on the spindle by means of special Polyflex JB belts. The high density of transmitted power – mainly in the area of high rpm – and smooth run without vibration makes them unique. Their high resistance against fatigue and impact loads helps to achieve high operational reliability and almost maintenance-free operation.

Spindle positioning A direct magnetic measurement integrated in the spindle is used for reading the rotations and position of the spindle; accuracy of angular displacement measurement is up to 0.001°. The advantage of direct measurement solution is demonstrated mainly in drilling and cutting, as this solution enables to achieve substantially higher accuracy of positioning in these technological operations. The accurate working position is achieved by means of spindle arresting and for continuous cutting it is possible to equip the machine with C-axis with the independent actuator.

Bed Bed is a robust casting made of cast iron providing high rigidity of the whole machine system. Symmetric structure of the bed compensates thermal expansion of the machine during operation. High accuracy of the machine is achieved also due to thermal and process relief of internal stress and final accurate grinding of sliding surfaces only after assembly of the legs to the lathe’s bed. Repeatable accuracy during the lathe’s lifetime is achieved by hardening of the sliding surfaces, guides of carriage and cross slide.

Headstock Rigid cast iron body of the headstock guarantees its minimum deformation, which has a positive effect on accuracy of the machining. Permanent grease filling of the bearings based on latest synthetic grease and the perfect sealing of the bearings’ area provides for failure-free operation of the headstock during machine’s complete lifetime.

Clamping devices The machine is equipped with manually controlled chucks with various diameters or four jaws independent face plates, which enable simple clamping of the work piece and a great deal of versatility in manufacturing of differing range of parts. Besides, it is possible to equip the machine with hydraulic chuck ROHM with adjustable range of hydraulic pressures for reliable work piece clamping without damaging its surface.

Massive and rigid tailstock design This structure is formed by massive castings of the body and plate. Tailstock is manually adjustable; it is equipped with rollers for labour saving, however it can be towed by carriage too. Transverse adjustment of the tailstock body against the plate provides for easy adjustment of its geometry.

Tool holding mechanism It enables fast exchange and adjustment of the tool by means of a lever with excenter. At the same time it preserves repeatedly high precision of tool holder position (0.01 mm) during several years of usage. Universal and versatile application is enabled due to a wide range of tool holders for different turning operations, drilling and thread cutting. It is possible to equip the machine with automatic 8-position SAUTER turret with dead or live tools of size VDI50. Automatic turret provides substantial time savings during exchanging tools as well as during the preparation process or during the working cycle.
