Resident Survival Guide
A WORD TO THE WISE
The Resident Survival Guide offers clinical pharmacy residents a valuable road map for negotiating the residency experience. Dr. John Murphy and a team of experienced clinical faculty and preceptors discuss topics of interest to new and continuing residents. Each chapter includes a reflective essay written by a pharmacy resident that gives a personal account of what to expect from the residency experience.
Updating your curriculum vitae (CV) can be a daunting experience, especially when it is needed for an important event like Midyear or for interviews. The best way to tackle your CV is to update it monthly. A few things to remember: edit your CV between updates by checking spacing, font sizing, spelling, and grammar; save your CV with an appropriate name and date (e.g., Name_Date_CV); and share your document in a non-editable form only (e.g., PDF file). Updating your CV monthly will also allow you to see areas of improvement as you progress in your academic and professional career. Asking a mentor or experienced clinician in your desired area of practice for feedback can also be helpful.
Potential and current clinical pharmacy residents will benefit in their residency experience by being armed with insight and advice from leaders in the clinical pharmacy profession. The Resident Survival Guide is available in the ACCP Bookstore at www.accp.com/bookstore.

Every day you may make progress. Every step may be fruitful. Yet there will stretch out before you an ever-lengthening, ever-ascending, ever-improving path. You know you will never get to the end of the journey. But this, so far from discouraging, only adds to the joy and glory of the climb.
