Homework will be assigned and will be graded if the student followed the format, the writing is legible, and the assignment is complete. If this is not the case, the work may be returned and may need to be redone at half-credit. When emailing or using the drop box in www.renweb.com, the documents must be saved in this manner: first initial, last name, assignment # and name, period number. For example dwilliamson-HW101-P1. The email subject should be the same as the name of the document (dwilliamson-HW101-P1). Homework not turned in via email or through the drop box in www.renweb.com, will be taken from the binder and placed in the burgundy tray by the door when the assignment is due or will be collected during class as determined by the instructor. Due dates are normally the next class period. If you are absent from class when an assignment is due, it will be accepted but only if submitted immediately upon your return and only if an excused absence is recorded by the office. If you cannot attend class when an assignment is due and cannot provide an acceptable written excuse, you should send your assignment to class with a friend, family member, or other person. An "acceptable" excuse for an absence is only one which is judged so by Heritage Christian School (Student Handbook, p. 9). If you are absent for an extended period of time, you will be given that amount of time to complete the work. If an assignment is late, the student will receive ½ credit. The assignment will not be accepted after time allotted by Heritage (one week following the due date). If a project is assigned and is turned in late, the student will receive a maximum grade of 70%.

C. Binders All work is to be kept in a three-ring binder and available for study purposes and grade verification but will not be turned in for grading. D. Memory Quizzes Memory quizzes will be taken from various books throughout the Scriptures. Each quiz needs to be written exactly as it is found in the ESV. They will be given at least once a week. Make up quizzes will be given during the lunch or after school by appointment only (all memory quizzes more than a week old, are given a grade of zero). E. Quizzes Chapter quizzes will be given regularly and the questions may be seen on the unit tests. The quizzes will cover reading material, video notes, audio notes, and handouts given in class or assigned as homework. Most quizzes will be online. There will be no make-up opportunities for these quizzes. If a quiz is taken in class, make-up quizzes will be given no later than one week after the quiz was given and by appointment only. Pop quizzes will be given at the discretion of the instructor and cannot be made up. F. Exams Exams will be given periodically (approximately every four to five weeks). Make-up exams will be given no later than one week after the test was given and by appointment only. G. Projects To be given as determined by the instructor. H. Participation Participation is an important part of learning. Fifteen percent of your class grade will be based on attendance and classroom participation (8%), which includes journals (7%). Each time you participate in class discussion you will receive a merit point. Examples of participation in class are: answering a question, adding to the conversation of the class discussion, participating in group discussions. Each time you detract from learning, you will receive a demerit. Examples of detracting from lessons are: bringing in food or beverages, talking out of turn, not participating in group activities, gum chewing, not having supplies (pen, paper, book, etc), and so on. Excessive demerits may result in a detention. I. General Your recorded grades will be available for your review on Renweb and will not be a matter of class discussion. If you question a grade, have the graded item in hand when making an appointment to discuss the matter. Do remember to keep all tests, quizzes, projects, and homework returned to you so that any discrepancies can be easily and fairly straightened out. Except in cases of actual error, final grades are permanent. Page -3-
