Gateway to Yosemite. and home of the Yosemite Flute & Art Festival, In the beautiful Sierra foothills, near the South entrance of Yosemite National Park, Oakhurst is 45 miles north of Fresno. Yosemite Flute & Art Festival held at the Community Park in the center of Oakhurst, has evening concerts at Yosemite High School’s Center for Performing Arts. Oakhurst Community Park is in walking distance of motels and restaurants. September in the Sierra foothills has warm and sunny days, with cool evenings— perfect for an outdoor event! This is certain to be a memorable event for all who attend.

Bidding ends Saturday at 2:00 pm. You may find a treasure at an excellent price. Proceeds benefit the Positive Living Center / Emerson Institute Building Fund. The silent auction is located near the Park Entrance.

(1.5 hrs $35) • Echoes of Canyon de Chelly* • Gary Stroutsos & Paul Thompson: A better understanding of traditional aspects of American Indian flutes, which can create a foundation for traditional playing. *Class fee includes a copy of the album. (1.5 hrs $45)

Scott August, winner of Native American [NA] Music Award, composer, producer, keyboardist and NA flute player, is known for his unique blend of NA flutes, world instruments and ambient soundscapes.

Gary Stroutsos: Songs and stories from his music as heard in Ken Burns’ PBS “Lewis & Clark...” as well as his Clinton White House performance, and more. Gary’ work includes internationally acclaimed recordings at sacred sites.

Michael Graham Allen, artist, flute maker and musician—since 1970s has been researching and reintroducing New World flutes. His band, Coyote Oldman, first recorded in 1985. He will feature flutes of ancient Anasazi, Mojave, Yuma and more.

Vince Chafin & Wm Hoshal “Sarayu”: These talented recording artists each play numerous instruments and weave a jazz fusion of world class sound that heals, excites and inspires.

Elysium Calling: Kenneth Hooper (NA flutes) & Garth D. Brooks (acoustic guitar) offer “Music of the Earth & Sky,” inviting the listener to enter into a musical landscape that is both spacious and uplifting, deeply human.

Stephen DeRuby is an accomplished flute maker and player, a World Music multiinstrumentalist. “It is my intention to create music that expresses mystery, and gently, yet deeply touches the listener.
