Issue - Term 4 Week 7

From the Principal’s desk

Dates to remember

Last week our Kindergarten orientation program for 2013 concluded with a meeting for parents in the library. Several guest speakers added to the program, discussing topics such as the importance of regular school attendance, P and C fundraising activities and healthy school lunches. We look forward to welcoming our new Kindergarten students to their first day at school st on Friday 31 January, 2014.

Week 7

The Year 6 to 7 orientation program concludes next Wednesday, with parents and students attending a meeting at Temora High School. Plans are well underway for the 2014 school year. Accurate student numbers are important in determining class composition. If you know you will not be here next year please let the front office know so that our student numbers are as accurate as possible. A new initiative to Temora Public School this term has been the establishment of a mentoring program for some of our senior boys. Under the guidance of Mrs Harman and Mr Frazier (Deputy Principal at T.H.S.) our boys complete activities with Year 9 boys from Temora High School. The older boys act as positive role models to younger students and it has been pleasing to see relationships blossom between these two groups. This mentoring program is yet another advantage of the strong connections we have with Temora High School and we thank them for enabling this program to run.

Boys mentoring program

The boys play a team balance game where they need to balance on a certain number of body parts. Ella L from Temora Public School was the only Stage One student at Operation Art at the Art Gallery in Wagga who was brave enough to talk in front of the audience to explain her art work. Congratulations Ella on being so brave!

We thank our sponsors for their support in 2013:
