We warmly welcome you to Halifax, Nova Scotia and to the 3rd International Conference on Sustainable Energy Information Technology (SEIT). With the help and support of the technical committees we have put together an exciting technical program for this years’ SEIT conference. We hope you enjoy the program and have fruitful interactions and discussions with all researchers and practitioners gathering here from around the world. The conference will act as a platform for the dissemination of current technologies in intelligent sustainable energy, as well as act as a forum for discussing the strategic next steps in smart grid adaptation. SEIT aims to bring together academia, industry, research scholars, business entrepreneurs, practitioners, managers, and policy makers responsible in delivering advanced sustainable energy solutions for competitive advantage and cost savings in modern industrial and business sectors. The call for papers for SEIT 2013 attracted 41 papers from authors representing many countries and continents. The expert reviewers from our technical committee assessed each paper over two rounds. Based on these reviews we accepted 21 papers, an acceptance rate of 51%. We want to express our sincere thanks to the conference general chair Prof. Hassan Farhangi from University of British Columbia & Simon Fraser University, Canada for his valuable support and guidance. We are also indebted to Prof. Elhadi Shakshuki founder and general co-chair of the SEIT conference from Acadia University, Canada for his support and direct involvement in the preparation of this event. We also wish to convey our sincere thanks to our local organizing committee from Acadia University and Dalhousie University for their hard work in the local arrangements. We are very grateful to the members of the program committee. They showed great support and expertise and provided us with extensive reviews and constructive criticism of the research papers. Many thanks also go to all the authors who have submitted their research work to the conference. Without their contributions we would have not been able to put together such a strong and interesting technical program. We look forward to hearing productive and interesting discussions during the 2013 SEIT conference. We wish you a pleasant stay and an enjoyable time in Halifax!
