For example, SHAG EXCEPTION is an anagram of POST EXCHANGE with an extra "I" added. The clue would be at the PX. (Since this one has been solved for you, there is no clue at the PX.) The "extra" letters from the thirteen phrases can be rearranged to spell a fourteenth on-island location. Each of the locations contains a treasure that can be exchanged at Treasure Hunt Headquarters for clues for solving the Double Crostic. Teams will receive 1 point for each individual treasure found, plus 56 points for the correct solution to the Double Crostic. Only one solution per team can be submitted. 50. BONUS CLUE: WITH LOVE FROM ME TO YOU

(100)

Each team has a gift from me in the box in Treasure Hunt Headquarters. If you succeed in opening the box, you will have fifteen seconds to choose your gift; but be careful! There are twice as many spurious gifts as real gifts, and only one will be worth 100 points to your team. Teams are advised to predict their gifts before they open the box. The lock on the box has a four-digit combination, the digits for which have been clued in the crossword puzzle in a traditional Treasure-Hunt sort of way. Two of the unclued four-letter words in the completed diagram can be put together to indicate the order of the digits in the combination; the other two can be put together to give one more clue related to the contents of the box. Although it will probably not make a difference, we feel it is only fair that we give each team two attempts this year at identifying the combination. There are eight clues among the crossword clues that do not lead to entries in the grid; instead, they lead to locations where you will find the real crossword clues. That will usually explain why an apparent answer does not seem to fit into the crossword diagram. The numbers in the diagram, although unusually placed, refer to the correspondingly-numbered across and down clues. 16
