Details: This course covers building science techniques for constructing and remodeling highperformance homes. Students will use case studies, detailed construction drawings and other resources found on GreenBuildingAdvisor.com to create more durable, environmentally responsible and sustainable housing units. Graduates will be able to: • Combine building physics with building performance • Translate building science into elements of design & construction • Incorporate high performance, energy efficiency, water efficiency, materials efficiency & indoor environmental quality standards into every housing unit • Describe a high-performance home & its benefits to their team & their clients • Use all aspects of GreenBuildingAdvisor.com (laptops in class are encouraged)

Details: This course teaches builders and remodelers to integrate green building tasks and the green home certification process into their project management routine to create an effective, streamlined process. Using the whole-house approach, this course identifies important documents and methods of communication in order to clarify who does what and when. Graduates will be able to: • Integrate green tasks into project management for a collaborative & more efficient approach toward meeting various green standards • Develop an understanding of the fundamental principles of the National Green Building Standard™ • Discuss ways to limit potential green building liabilities & increase the project’s bottom line using streamlined management practices • Improve marketing strategies for selling green

To Register for Either Course: Please make separate reservations at www.stlhba.com/events no later than Friday, February 17, 2012. NOTE: We must have at least 10 students enrolled in each class by the date noted above to follow-through with these offerings. Cancellations for either course must be made 10 business days in advance. A cancellation fee of $25 per course will apply after Friday, February 17 (substitutions permitted). No-shows will be responsible for entire payment. Completion paperwork will be withheld until all payments are received. Non-Members must pay in advance (upon reservation).

About the Instructor: Matt Belcher, CGP is a nationally recognized green builder. His popularity as a speaker and trainer for the residential construction industry continues to grow. He owns Belcher Homes in St. Louis, MO and is the author of, “Build Green and Save: Protecting the Earth and Your Bottom Line” published by NAHB. He’s a past president of the St. Louis HBA and has served on many HBA committees through the years. He continues to serve as the chair of the St. Louis HBA’s Green Building Council and also serves on the NAHB Green Building Sub-Committee of the National Codes Committee.
