The Psychological Capital and Leadership Style: Exploring the Relationship with Job Stress of Private Companies Workers in Yogyakarta Nur Pratiwi Noviati Department of Psychology, Faculty of Psychology and Socio-Cultural Sciences, Islamic University of Indonesia, Yogyakarta, Indonesia E-mail: [email protected] Abstract The aim of the study was to assess correlation between psychological capital, leadership style and job stress of private company workers. Data were collected from 66 employees (56 men and 10 women, age 21-50), from two branches of private companies in Yogyakarta, using a psychological capital scale that is developed based on the theory of Luthans et al (2007) has a reliability coefficient alpha of 0.937, and leadership style scale developed based on the theory of Bass and Avolio (Yukl, 2006). Transformational leadership scale has a reliability coefficient alpha of 0.974 and transactional leadership scale has a reliability coefficient alpha of 0.932. Meanwhile the job stress scale was developed based on the theory of Robbins (2006) has a reliability coefficient alpha 0.832. The results showed there is correlation between psychological capital and job stress of the employee with r=-0.612, p=0.000 (p0.05), and transactional leadership has correlation to job stress with r=-0.254, p=0,020 (p
