[email protected] ABSTRACT LEOSPHERE has recently developed a new Raman and dual-polarization aerosol lidar. The discrimination of atmospheric particles (marine aerosols, continental pollution, cirrus clouds, dust aerosols and volcanic ashes) is made possible thanks to the three detection channels : co- and cross-polarization elastic channels for the computation of linear volume depolarization ratio and a nitrogen Raman channel for the determination of the Lidar ratio (aerosol extinction-to-backscatter ratio). This product has been especially designed for networks with the use of a low maintenance diode-pumped laser and a high data availability. But the networking also requires a consistency between the instruments part of the network. This is done by validation and intercomparison protocols performed at LEOSPHERE premises. Quality assurance of the data is verified following EARLINET recommendations (correction of trigger delay, dark noise substraction, verification of Rayleigh fit and calibration of depolarization ratio with +/-45° procedure). A two week intercomparison campaign is then realized in order to ensure network consistency. The validation protocol will be here described in detail and results of intercomparison campaigns will be presented. Keywords: Raman lidar, validation protocol, intercomparison campaign, lidar network
