Thursday 7th March, 2013 Re: Year 11 Final IGCSE Examinations Dear Students and Parents/Guardians in Year 11, Students in Year 11 are scheduled to sit final examinations for their subjects from Tuesday 7th May Wednesday 5th June, 2013. This letter contains relevant information for the exam period; please find below the IGCSE External Examination Timetable and the Chatsworth Student Conduct for External IGCSE Examinations notice. These will be reviewed in their classes over the coming weeks. Students will also receive in hard copy their official CIE Statement of Entry with this letter and timetable. Student usernames and passwords will be issued before study leave, so students can access results online. Students will begin study leave from the 29th April. Please note that there are no regular classes for students in Years 11 from this date onwards and no supervision will be available. Students will be marked present before each exam begins and then be able to sign out of the school, at the Secondary Office, in the usual way. Should students wish to meet teachers, they are welcome to arrange a mutually convenient time. Otherwise, students should only be present for exams. School uniform is to be worn whilst students are in school, for exams and when visiting teachers. Some important points to remember: - There are two exams per day; the morning session begins at 9am, the afternoon at 1pm. Students must be outside the exam room at least 10 minutes before the start time, and should arrive on campus at least 30 minutes before the start of the exam. All examinations will take place in room 4J except for listening examinations for which the locations are indicated in the timetable. - Where students are scheduled to take more than one examination in a session they will sit the examinations in the order shown in the attached timetable with a short, supervised break between papers. During these breaks it is not permitted to communicate with anyone outside the examination room or use any electronic communication devices (laptops, handphones etc). - Students should use the coming weeks to improve upon their performance in the mock exams through careful revision and preparation. Ensuring adequate sleep, a study area, and nutritious food will help your child/ward to be at their best for the exams. Please help your child/guardian to structure their time appropriately. We wish our students the best in their upcoming exams. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact myself or the relevant teachers. During a temporary absence the candidate must not take any material out of the examination room, have access to material during the absence, or return with any material. · Candidates who arrive late for an examination will be permitted to sit the remainder of the examination but CIE will determine whether or not to accept the marks for that paper. If the late arrival could not be avoided by the candidate then the full time for the paper may be given at the discretion of the IGCSE coordinator but CIE will determine whether or not to mark any work completed after the scheduled finish time. · Where a student cannot sit an exam due to unavoidable circumstances (eg. illness or bereavement) please call the Secondary Office immediately. Students should contact (via email) the IGCSE Coordinator where the exam falls on a public holiday.
