 Thursday, March 15, 2012  7:30 p.m.  Orinda Library Auditorium 26 Orinda Way  “The Good Soldier Schweik”  Presented by The Orinda/Tabor Sister City Foundation  free public presentation!  A fun evening for all ages Based on the legendary novel by Czech humorist Jaroslav Hasek, The Good Soldier Schweik mixes slapstick and satire to stand as a riotous commentary on the absurdity of war. Acclaimed Czech actor Rudolf Hrusinsky stars as the cheerful Schweik, a goodnatured buffoon with a story for every occasion. After getting drafted into the Czech army during WWI, Schweik becomes an assistant to high-ranking military officials, and unwittingly wreaks havoc on the leaders of the 91st infantry.

Czech writer Jaroslav Hašek as a member of the Soviet Red Army in 1920. Hašek was attached to the political department of the 5th Army, where he worked on the Red Army newspaper.
