Deanna Hoermann is known as an educator, teacher, lecturer, researcher and consultant in the areas of music education,
leadership and change management. For eight years she served as the first president of the International Kodaly Society and founded the Kodaly Music Education Institute of Australia. Deanna has been a member of several state and national boards in the performing arts and higher education. She was the driving force behind the development of Newtown High School for the Performing Arts. As a consultant she continues to be driven by her belief that music education can make a significant difference to the learning and development of all children. Currently, Deanna is an Adjunct Senior Lecturer in the School of Education at the University of New England.
Frances Alter is an academic in the School of Education at the University of New England and teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses in creative arts education. Her illustrations appear in this book. Terrence Hays teaches in creative arts, specifically music education in the School of Education at the University of New
England. His research interests and publications include music pedagogy, music performance, musicology, gerontology, music education and research methods. He has performed extensively in Australia and overseas as an organist and pianist in both ensemble and solo recitals.
