Tuscany Soundz Studios ‐ General Recording Advice    In order to safe you time and money we have compiled a list of useful tips to help you prepare for a  recording session:  

      

Know your songs (tempo, key, structure, style, lyrics, chords, melodies/solos, transitions,  etc.). The best thing is to rehearse and then perform the entire recording session live a few  times with the musicians you are going to record with.   Be well rested.  Use new strings, skins, sticks, reeds, etc. for the recording session. Renew 2‐3 days before  the session takes place so that strings, skins, etc. can settle.  If you want your own sound bring your own equipment (at least cymbals, snare, guitars,  bass, effect pedals).  Have your instruments tuned (drums, guitar & bass, especially drums!).  Bring spare strings, sticks, drum skins, etc.  Bring food and drinks, maybe something to read or do while waiting for other musicians to  record their takes. We are very close to shops if you want to go out for lunch.  Switch off your mobile phones.

When recording more tunes or an album it is useful to book subsequent days as the sound  check for a whole band takes some time. It is a waste of time to sound check every time you  come in.  It is recommendable to bring your own instruments, including drums. However, all common  instruments (drums, congas, bongos, various percussion, basses, double bass, acoustic  guitars, nylon string guitar, electric guitars, guitar and bass amps, piano, keyboard) are in the  studio. If the drummer doesn’t want to bring his drum kit he/she should at least bring snare  drum, drum sticks and cymbals.   We can record up to 32 tracks simultaneously and use Pro Tools along with an analogue desk  and various pre‐amps.  We have up to 18 headphone channels with a maximum of five independent and personal  headphone monitor mixes.  For singer‐songwriters we can provide professional session musicians for reasonable rates.
