TWO-PLUS-TWO Program

What is the Two-Plus-Two Program? The two-plus-two program is a unique opportunity offered by the UAF School of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences to undergraduate students enrolled in the fisheries program. The program allows undergraduate students the option of studying at other University of Alaska campuses for a portion of their Bachelor of Science in Fisheries or Bachelor of Arts in Fisheries. This program provides flexibility to Alaska’s students and allows them to take advantage of the diverse opportunities found in Alaska’s coastal and Interior communities. A vital component of the undergraduate experience at SFOS will be students’ active role as researchers. Students in the two-plus-two program will have the opportunity to conduct research in different scientific communities. With the two-plus-two model, students will be able to work in university laboratories at UAF or UAS, while also having an opportunity to work in the laboratories of various fisheries agencies.

How does it work? The two-plus-two program allows lower-division students (freshmen and sophomores) to complete all or parts of their preparatory coursework at any UAF, UAS, or UAA campus. However, students will be required to complete their upper-division (junior and senior) coursework at UAF in Fairbanks or at the UAF Juneau Center.
