I, Julia López Hernández, with National Identity Card Number 32613914, Senior Professor of Nutrition and Bromatology of the Faculty of Pharmaceutics of Santiago de Compostela

CERTIFY: That as the principal researcher in the project "Macroalgae prepared in Galicia as new functional foods: an evaluation of their quality and food safety. Nutritional composition and research into the aliphatic hydrocarbons and PCBs” in which the following algae from the firm Algamar were studied:

WAKAME (Undaria pinnatifida) DULSE (Palmaria palmata) NORI (Porphyra umbilicalis) KOMBU (Laminaria ochroleuca) SEA SPAGHETTI (Himanthalia elongata)

That the results obtained from the evaluations of the protein content and amino acid composition, the total lipid, fatty acid and sterol content and the dietetic fibre study, among other values, show that these seaweeds have: - a high total mineral salt and dietetic fibre content - an appreciable protein content - a low total lipid content and therefore meet the requirements expected of a healthy foodstuff. Linked to this, the results of the hydrocarbon and PCB study shows that Galician seaweed is safe to be allowed onto the European market and to be consumed as new foods. In witness whereof, I sign this document in Santiago de Compostela on 25 January 2008.
