Reproductive Health in a Pluralist Legal World Santiago de Compostela, 27th – 28th October, 2016 Call for Papers On March 2016, the UN Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ECSCR) adopted its General Comment n. 22 (GC/22) related to Right to Sexual and Reproductive Health. In its legal authoritative views, the Committee recalled that “[r]eproductive health […] concerns the capability to reproduce and the freedom to make informed, free and responsible decisions. It also includes access to a range of reproductive health information, goods, facilities and services to enable individuals to make informed, free and responsible decisions about their reproductive behavior. […]” (para. 5, E/C.12/GC/22). The purpose of this international conference is to incentive an interdisciplinary debate with the aim to: underline the present status of national and international regulations and jurisprudence, compare different legal systems and underline best practices, reflecting on interdependence with other human rights, mapping social determinants and other factors and barriers denying equitable access to reproductive health care, etc. Some suggested topics include: Reproductive Health and Human Rights Reproductive Health and New Technologies Reproductive Health and National Regulations and Case-Law Reproductive Health and Non Discrimination Reproductive Health and International Humanitarian Crisis Reproductive Health and Social Determinants Reproductive Health in Time of Economic Austerity

Despite preference will be done to proposal related to any of this suggested topic, we also welcome general submissions. We cordially invite all interested scholars from law, political sciences, economics, social sciences, etc. to submit a 500 words abstract, and a short bio of no more than 300 words simultaneously to Prof. Antonietta Elia ([email protected]) and Prof. Belén Trigo García ([email protected]), no later 5th October 2016. Selected speakers will be informed by 10th October 2016. Unfortunately we are unable to offer bursaries to participants, but we will inform in due course about special rate hotels. Selected papers will be published in a collective book with an international publisher.
