Objective: To analyze a song directly related to the Vietnam War protest movement in the United States. (Students will be assigned a song from the attached list.) Task: Students will research the song, telling why you think it is relevant to the anti-war movement. Students will prepare a two-three page paper that includes comments from the artist, song writers, or “experts/historians” of the time period. Student’s opinions and reflection on the lyrics must also be included. Both must be parenthetically documented! Students must also select 10-20 images to be added to a PowerPoint slide show (or Movie Maker) to be viewed during the student presentation. The synopsis must include specific references to the song as quotes in the paper. MLA work cited for images, lyrics, and research used, printed out (Must have a proper heading). All writing must be your own words and sentence structure. At no time should Wikipedia be used for this project.
