“YRS are the answer and the best gift for all women with reproductive health problems”

Ibu Susi Shopper at Badung Traditional Market

Ibu Susi was experiencing vaginal discharge for five years – because of the discomfort and odour this produced, her confidence was low, she felt embarrassed to be around her friends and she could not enjoy sex with her partner. She had looked for solutions with various different health services however became frustrated and depressed because the problem was not being fixed. One day, Ibu Susi was shopping at the Badung Traditional Market when she overheard a group of women discussing discharge. In her mind, she thought “Wow, this cannot be true – people in the market are talking about the same problem I have had for years. This is the greatest gift and answer from the Gods!” Ibu Susi looked around the crowd and many women were looking at brochures and other materials, so she shyly approached a vendor and asked, “What’s going on? Why are people talking about this at the market?” And the vendor replied with an answer that Ibu Susi could not believe. “There is a reproductive health clinic called Yayasan Rama Sesana on the fourth floor, here at the market. They visit us every day and share information about women’s health”. After chatting with the vendor, she joined the small group discussion nearby with other market traders and YRS Outreach workers. She asked for a brochure and said she would visit YRS. A few days later, Ibu Susi visited YRS and the clinical team provided her with detailed information about Reproductive Tract Infections before undertaking the examination. She felt pleased to fully understand the process. After the examination, Ibu Susi received treatment, following up with regular visits to the clinic, and returned one day with a big smile, “Thank you for your help, my issue is finally resolved and now I can return to active work and confidently spend time with friends, and I no longer feel inhibited when I have sex with my partner”. Since recovering from her problem, Ibu Susi visits the clinic for routine inspections. But she doesn’t just come alone, each time she brings someone new for a check-up – a friend, a relative, a neighbour. "YRS is the answer for women who are unsure of what to do and where to go to find reproductive health services. This is the best gift," and is the reason why Ibu Susi is excited to recommend YRS reproductive health services to every woman she meets. Yayasan Rama Sesana (YRS) are a non-profit, non-governmental organization providing donation-based, quality healthcare, including clinical services and educational programming, with a particular focus on women’s reproductive health at and for traditional market community.
