We want you to be really happy at Crofton Academy and we hope these few pages answer some questions which you might be asking. We are sure you‘ll have lots more that we haven’t answered here, and there will be lots of opportunities over the coming weeks to ask us when you visit, or when Mrs Fogg visits you. Mrs Fogg will be coming to your school to see you very soon, check the main Transition Page for dates and times.

We asked our Year 7s for their thoughts and reactions a few weeks after they started in September last year – these are just some of their comments:

Everyone is very helpful - I am thoroughly enjoying high school. The best thing is the atmosphere of the school. It can be busy but it is still great!

I really enjoy Crofton Academy because for the duration of 5 years you get given more responsibilities.

The best thing about Crofton is the teachers and making new friends.

The best thing about school is that you meet nice new friends that are kind to you and you have fun lessons!

The best thing about Crofton is that you don’t have to stay in the same classroom all day.

The best thing about Crofton is the lessons! I really like the teachers and the lessons are enjoyable.

I feel very confident after my first week at school - I like all the teachers.

The best thing about Crofton is that the uniform is simple and they put a lot of trust in younger pupils like us Year 7s!

The best thing about Crofton is people look after you. I am feeling really happy.

I enjoy Crofton because it is more independent than primary school.

The best thing about Crofton is that you can make lots of new friends in all different lessons.

1. Be yourself 2. Be kind to others 3. Respect teachers because they will respect you 4. Be friendly to everyone and they will be friendly back 5. Make sure you bring everything you need to lessons 6. Don’t be scared to ask! 7. Bring homework in on time 8. Respect the books and equipment the school gives you 9. Use your planner 10. Smile!

We’ve tried to think of the basics, but these are some more questions that you may want to ask us when you visit and which we can talk about in more detail WHAT HAPPENS IF . . . I get lost? I forget my homework? I forget my PE kit? I can’t follow my timetable? I have to leave school early, of attend a medical appointment? I am late for registration? I need to contact home? I feel I am being bullied? I am not happy?
