Welding Technology Associate of Applied Science for Welding Technology The Welding program prepares students for careers in welding fabrication, welding manufacturing, and/or welding repair. The curriculum is designed to develop skills, attitudes, and competencies in welding processes including oxy-fuel welding and cutting, gas metal arc welding, gas tungsten arc welding, and shielded metal arc welding. In addition, students will receive training in welding safety, blueprint reading, metallurgy, and layout and fabrication. An Associate of Applied Science Degree and four certificate options are available. The Associate of Applied Science Degree consists of 60-61 semester credit hours and takes approximately two years to complete. Each certificate consists of 14-18 semester credit hours and takes approximately one year to complete. To receive a Welding Technology certificate, students must maintain a 2.5 grade point average. For more information contact the Applied Technology Division. The following is the suggested sequence of courses for the following degree and certificates. A + indicates course which have a prerequisite or co-requisite. However, courses that do not have a prerequisite do not have to be taken in order. For example, WLDG 1421 does not have to be taken before WLDG 1453 since 1421 is not a prerequisite for 1453. Nevertheless, the general sequence should still be followed. Part-time students may require more than four semesters to complete their degrees or certificates. The following options are listed below:
