All students, employees and alumni of the universities and university colleges in Berlin are eligible to participate in the TU Sport course program. Your category (student/ staff/alumni) determines how much you have to pay for the respective courses. Externals/guests can also participate, but have to pay a higher participation fee.

All bookings must be paid for at time of booking. To register and pay the participation fee online a bank account is required. If you do not have a bank account, please visit the TU Sport Office for registration, where cash payment will be accepted.

Enrolment

The TU Sport website (www.tu-sport.de) has been created to provide an overview of the courses, sports facilities and services available. At the moment our website is only available in German, but we’re trying to provide relevant information in a way that allows you to use our website even if you’re not a native speaker. If you can‘t find what you are looking for or require further information please contact our office and we will be pleased to assist you with your enquiry.

Ball games, team and racket sports

A small registration fee authorizes you to participate in more than 30 basic fitness courses every week. The program covers a wide range of sports activities that allow you to create a training program that matches your individual fitness level, trainings goals and timetable.

Our sports program includes a wide range of popular team and racket sports such as volleyball, basketball, soccer, table tennis and badminton, but also trend sports like ultimate frisbee and touch rugby. Whether you’re male or female, an experienced player or just looking to get more active, new players are always welcome.

Dancing Get ready to swing around the dance floor with grace while getting a workout and having fun at the same time. We give you the opportunity to learn the basics of different types of dances, for example hip hop, modern dance or ballroom dances. Let’s dance!

Individual sports Enjoy a round of golf, learn how to bounce in style on the trampoline or release your inner Robin Hood at one of our archery classes. TU Sport has a huge range of fun and active individual sports classes to get you motivated and moving. Come along and find out more!

Recreational sports Need a break from your busy schedule? Our sports program offers a variety of classes designed to improve your physical and mental well-being. Strengthen your posture through spinal exercises or enjoy a total mind and body workout in one of our yoga or Pilates classes.

Wellness Discover the heavenly benefits of the healing art of massage while enjoying a massage in your lunch break or after work.

Fitness classes Hit the pool for a great cross-training workout and provide your body with a uniquely different form of exercise in one of our aqua-fit courses. Or gain flexibility, strength and endurance in our aerobic or NIA® classes. We offer classes for all levels of ability, from complete beginners to those who exercise more regularly. Martial arts A better working body, a more focused mind, a stronger sense of self confidence and the ability to physically defend yourself - these all are benefits of practicing martial arts. The styles may differ but the benefits remain the same.

Water sports Water Sports offer some of the most adventurous activities. Improve your balance, build strength and paddle into a refreshing adventure in one of our stand-up-paddleboarding courses. Or why not explore the surroundings of Berlin by canoe, rowing boat or sailing boat? We guarantee you a refreshing and unforgettable experience and a lot of fun!

All courses need to be booked in advance. The registration form, information about the participation fees along with a complete list of all courses can be found on our website (www.tu-sport.de). All courses can be booked online or at the TU Sport Office. Enrolment in courses is on a first come first serve basis. Please note that all courses have limited places available. Therefore it is highly recommended that you book your courses early.

Further information

Rebooking You may change your booking to another course within the same sport – provided that there are still places available. To change your booking details you will have to pay a rebooking fee of 5 Euro. If you rebook in a course with a higher participation fee you will also have to pay the difference between the original course fee and the new one.

Cancellation Bookings can be cancelled up to seven days before a course starts. If you cancel a booking, you will be charged a cancellation fee of 5 Euro and we will refund you the remaining participation fee. If you cancel a booking later than seven days before the course starts, a refund will only be paid if someone else takes your place in the course. It is not possible to cancel a booking later than one week after a course has started, unless you are injured and have a medical certificate.

Fitness Center Looking for a gym? We‘ve got everything you need! Our Fitness Center offers a wide range of electronic cardio exercise equipment including steppers, treadmills, cross trainers and stationary bikes, but also strength training equipment including a vertical chest press, shoulder press, leg curl and leg extension. In addition our Weight Room offers use of free weight equipment.

TU Sport organizes friendly competitions amongst the students of the universities in Berlin and coordinates participation in regional and national university championships. Furthermore we have our own football and volleyball leagues. For the leagues you need to register as a team, if you are interested in joining a volleyball or football team, we can help you to get in contact with the team captains. Sports Tours Join us for a sports tour and explore different parts of Germany and other countries together with other students who share your passion for sports. Surfing, cycling, cross country skiing and trekking are only some of the activities you can try out while spending some days far away from lecture halls and libraries. We guarantee that you will return to Berlin not only relaxed, but also with great experiences and memories.

Courses and workshops

Winter term sports courses start in the middle of October end in the middle of February. Registration opens in the beginning of October. Summer term sports courses start in the middle of April and end in the middle of July. Registration opens in the beginning of April. We also offer a sports program during the semester breaks (middle of February – middle of April and middle of July – middle of October), but with a reduced number of courses. Exact scheduling and information about the duration of the courses can be found on our website.

No matter if you prefer boxing or ballet, ultimate frisbee or floorball, shiatsu or scuba diving, with more than 900 courses in about 120 different sports every year we are sure to have the right course for you. From time to time we also offer sport-specific workshops, where you can try out new activities or deepen your knowledge and skills in a particular sport.
