Lake Cascade YURT PACKING LIST Depart - Please arrive at Fort Boise Community Center at 9 a.m. on Tuesday

Return - to Fort Boise at 3 p.m. on Thursday Pack for this trip as you would for car camping in the winter. Which means pack light, compact and bring only what you need, as space is limited in the vans and yurt. Each traveler may bring one bag (preferably a duffel bag) and a sleeping bag. You may also bring one small bag to carry in the vehicle with you. You will not need to bring a tent or a sleeping pad, as we will be sleeping on padded bunk beds in the yurts. This year we may visit Zim’s Hot Spring. Please bring $8.00 for the hot springs, a swim suit and a towel. CLOTHES TO PACK IN YOUR DUFFEL BAG  2 changes of clothing – 2 pairs of pants (NOT jeans), 1–2 sweaters/sweatshirts, 2-3 long sleeve shirts, 1 Tshirt, underwear.  Long underwear - polypropylene or other synthetic material (Sweats or long johns to sleep in)  Lightweight pair of shoes or slippers to wear inside the yurt  Winter boots or hiking boots to walk in the ice & snow. We can also use these shoes if you wish to try snowshoeing.  4 – 5 pairs of socks  Snow pants or warm fleece pants for snowshoeing  Ski/snow jacket and or wind breaker  Warm gloves and a hat that covers your ears  Swim suit and towel for the Hot Springs The secret to winter outdoor activities is to LAYER your clothing so you can take a layer off or put one on depending on your body temperature. We will get warm when we are snowshoeing around the yurt. Avoid cotton material as it absorbs sweat and freezes…a very UNCOMFORTABLE feeling! Do NOT wear jeans – they won’t dry if they get wet. Materials that are good to wear include poly-pro, fleece, silk, wool… TOILETRIES This is a winter CAMPING trip and there is not electricity in the yurt. All you’ll really need is a toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant and maybe some lotion. We will be using an outdoor toilet!  SLEEPING BAG You do not want to bring a big cotton sleeping bag. You do want a mummy bag designed for at least 3 seasons of camping. If you do not have a sleeping bag like this, please let us know and we will let you rent one for $10. ITEMS TO PACK IN A CARRY-ON BAG:  Medications – please bring an extra day  Lunch for the first day  Water bottle worth of medication (please let Sonya know  Spending money and $8 for the Hot Springs if you would like staff to hold medications).  Small Flash light or headlamp OPTIONAL ITEMS:  Sunglasses  Camera

 Small Pillow  Hat  Travel Activities (books, small puzzles, cards, etc.)

Please contact Emily or Sonya at 608-7680 for additional information. This will be a very fun trip!
